Pretty much every family in Ireland has their tried and trusted Hot Toddy recipe that gets passed down from one generation to the next. So as it’s winter time here in Napa Valley and there have been some sniffles in our house in the last few days I thought it was time to share our family secret!
Ingredients
Get It Ready
- 2 fl. oz. / 60ml. Irish Whiskey - We use Powers Three Swallow
- 1 fl. oz. / 30ml. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 fl. oz. / 30ml. Fresh Orange/Mandarin Juice
- 1 tspn. Honey
- As Required Hot Water - not quite boiling
- Garnish - Slice Lemon + 5 Cloves studded into the lemon
- *Optional Garnish - 1 Cinnamon Stick
Instructions
Get It Made
- “Stud” your lemon slice with the cloves and set aside
- Add Fresh Irish Whiskey to your Irish Coffee glass
- Add Honey to your Irish Coffee glass - leave your spoon in the glass
- Add Fresh Lemon Juice to your Irish Coffee glass
- Add Fresh Orange/Mandarin to your Irish Coffee glass
- Top up your Irish Coffee glass with Hot Water - not quite boiling
- Stir until Honey is dissolved
- Pop your clove-studded lemon slice into your Irish Coffee glass
- *Optional - add a cinnamon stick
- Sip slowly and enjoy…Sláinte!
